Lucknow: Luminous light is streaming down on the white walls, a white jeep is parked nicely in a corner, and a white cow is seen observing the frantic proceedings with a calm demeanour.
It all makes for a wonderful setting, except that the relative calm is broken by the ring of a doorbell and the subsequent action that follows.
On Sunday, a woman in Lucknow opened fire to save her husband from the goons in Amrapali Vihar in the Kakori area of the state capital, revealed the close circuit television cameras.
The video footage of the incident shows how a person rings the bell and when Abid Ali, a local journalist, comes out, five more people join in and start beating him with sticks.
After a few seconds, Abid's wife emerges from inside the house with a service revolver and starts firing on the goons to rescue her husband. No one was injured in the firing, though.
As soon as the wife opened fire, the miscreants ran away leaving an injured Abid in front of the house.
Abid Ali suffered multiple injuries on his neck, back, head and hands in the incident. The video also shows Abid taking the revolver from his wife and firing at his assailants.
According to SSP Lucknow, Deepak Kumar, the dispute is regarding the rent. Reports from the aggressor and the aggrieved have been filed and the case is being investigated.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered against the attackers of Abid. However, there have been no arrests in this regard so far.
