CHENNAI: A flurry broke out at the security scanning area at the Kamaraj Domestic terminal in the Chennai Airport on Sunday evening, after a .22 caliber bullet was found in the handbag of a woman, travelling to Hyderabad. According to police sources, the 32-year-old lady who was allegedly returning to Hyderabad after attending a wedding in Chennai, had put her handbag into the scanning session, after which the alarms went off. “The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) security personnel noticed a shell in a small pouch hanging outside the handbag. They immediately took her in for inquiry,” said the source. After the Central Industrial Security Force men questioned her about the bullet, she was handed over to the Airport Police around 8 pm.“She maintained throughout that she had no idea how it got there and even suggested that someone might have planted it there deliberately,” the source added. She allegedly maintained the stance through a three-hour inquiry conducted by the airport cops. Police confirmed that though the initial analysis suggested that the bullet might be a blank, a thorough forensic analysis would be done on Monday before any action could be taken into the matter.
