CHENNAI: With the Supreme Court reserving its orders on the implementation of Samacheer Kalvi (Uniform System of School Education), Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today said in the state Assembly that the government would abide by the court verdict."We have moved the Supreme Court and are awaiting its orders. We expect the order to be pronounced even today. We will abide by the Court verdict," she said intervening during the debate on the budget.Responding to CPI's S Gunasekaran who contended that the quality of Samacheer Kalvi must be upgraded, she said the government was also in agreement with the proposal.Tamil Nadu government had moved the apex court challenging the Madras High Court's decision to quash the amendment brought in to defer implementation of Samacheer Kalvi, introduced by the previous DMK regime.The AIADMK government had taken the plea that it wanted to defer implementation as the text books printed contained material allegedly promoting the interests of the previous DMK government and its MP Kanimozhi.A three-judge Supreme Court bench had reserved its verdict on Thursday.
