Wedding bells: Sania applies for Pak visa
The Wedding is slated to be held in mid April in Lahore.

New Delhi: A day after the Indo-Pak match that took everyone by surprise, Indian tennis superstar Sania Mirza applied for a Pakistani visa ahead of her mid April Lahore wedding to former Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik.

Apart from Sania, her parents and her sister also applied for the Pakistani visa. The couple's formal wedding reception has been scheduled in April and the couple will be based in Dubai.

Both Sania and Shoaib are away from playing their respective sports at the moment. While Sania is nursing a serious wrist injury, Shoaib was recently banned by the Pakistan Cricket Board for one year due to his indisciplined behaviour during Pakistan's tour to Australia.

Geo Television had reported on Monday that the two sporting superstars have got engaged and their marriage would take place in April.

Incidentally, Shoaib was earlier accused of marrying another Hyderabad girl, Ayesha Siddiqui, in 2002 over phone even though the cricketer said he was merely engaged to her.

Ayesha's father had also threatened to sue Malik for jilting the girl and not giving her divorce.

According to the channel, Shoaib's mother met Sania's parents in India and accepted her as the future daughter-in-law.

The 'Walima' or reception is expected to be held in Lahore on April 16 or 17, according to the channel, which quoted sources as saying that Sania and Shoaib fell in love some six-and-half months ago and it could be the reason for the breaking up of Sania's engagement with childhood friend Sohrab Mirza.
