New Delhi: With the Asian Games round the corner, the Indian women's hockey team is aiming for a winning start its campaign in the 17th edition of the continental event to be held in Incheon, South Korea from September 19 to October 4.
Indian women's hockey team captain Ritu Rani is hoping for a good showing from the team in the event and said their last pool match against Chian will be a crucial one.
"Going by the present form of the team and the recent performances, we are looking forward to a good show in the pool matches. We are aiming for a victorious start in the tournament against Malaysia and Thailand," Ritu said on the sidelines of their ongoing preparatory camp in Patiala.
"Our clash against China will be the one to watch and we are working hard towards penalty corners, ball possessions and field tactics so that we can successfully overcome the opponents in the Asian Games," she added.
Indian women's team chief coach Neil Hawgood is also hoping for a "respectable" result from his wards in the Incheon Games.
"The team is practicing hard and I am sure of respectable results in the Asian Games.
"The team has been working on their faulty areas. The team is fully fit," Hawgood said.
Indian eves have been clubbed along side China, Malaysia and Thailand in Pool A in the Asian Games.
