New Delhi: In a new twist to the Nitish Katara murder case, the main accused Vikas Yadav on Friday denied ever knowing Nitish.

Yadav also denied ever meeting Nitish on the ocassion of the wedding of Shivani Gaur. He said that he was not travelling in a Tata safari with co-accused Vishal Yadav and Sukhdev Pehalwan.

The case got murkier as the other accused, Vishal Yadav, alleged that Neelam Katara, Nitish's mother had framed him in the case.

"We have been falsely implicated in the case at the instance of complainant (Neelam Katara)," Vishal told Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur while concluding his recording of statement.

Citing his earlier statement that he (Vishal) did not even know who Nitish and Neelam were, the court posed a pointed query asking him to explain how it was possible that someone, who is not known to you, would frame you.

Virtually trapped in his own words, Vishal fumbled and said, "Neelam might have some problems with my maternal uncle D P Yadav."

He also accused police of acting at the behest of complainant, while concluding answering about 250 questions during recording of his statement under Section 313 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

A video footage of an interview given by Vikas saying a minor altercation with the victim had taken place at the marriage ceremony on the night of February 16, 2002 was shown to Vishal which he termed as a matter of record.

Vikas and Vishal Yadav are accused of kidnapping and murdering Nitish, a business executive and son of a former bureaucrat, from a marriage party in Ghaziabad on the intervening night of February 16 and 17, 2002.
