New Delhi: Three-time champion Venus Williams remained on course for a possible fourth Wimbledon crown as the 23rd seed beat Russia's Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-3, 6-4 to reach the semi finals on Thursday.
Venus won the first set in under half an hour. The one-way traffic continued as Kuznetsova didn't put up much of a fight in the second either.
Venus will be playing Serbian teenager Ana Ivanovic in the semi-finals.
Ivanovic beat Nicole Vaidisova of the Czech Republic in the quarter-finals after going down a set.
The sixth seeded Serbian lost the first set 4-6, but came back to take the second 6-2.
Nicole Vaidisova, leading 5-2 in the third set, seemed on course for a semi-final entry, but Ivanovic hung on, not letting her opponent win a single game after that. Ivanovic closed out the third set 7-5 to keep her Grand Slam record ever improving.
Ivanovic was runners-up to Justine Henin at the French Open last month.
