V V Rameshan shown the door

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The DYFI state committee, which met here on Tuesday, decided to remove its state treasurer V V Rameshan from the organisation in connection with obtaining an MBBS seat for his daughter in the Pariyaram Cooperative Medical College.  ‘’He was removed from the organisation as the committee felt that there were moral and political issues involved in his obtaining a seat for his daughter. As a leader of this organisation, he has committed a grave mistake as his action does not justify the position taken by the organisation regarding the self-financing education policies,’’ DYFI state president M B Rajesh said.  The party was put in the dock when the DYFI leader secured an NRI quota seat in the college, for which the capitation fees is said to be above Rs 50 lakh.  The DYFI had unleashed an agitation against the then UDF Government in the early 90s against the self-financing colleges which even led to a police firing in Koothuparamba, Kannur, resulting in the death of five DYFI activists.   Miffed by the action of the DYFI leader, the CPM Kasargod district committee the other day decided to demote him from the district committee to the area committee, which is expected to be ratified by the party state committee meet here in the first week of July
