US bans directs flights from Pakistan
Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authorities review security arrangements on flights, but fail to convince the US.

Islamabad: US aviation authorities have disallowed direct flights from Pakistan to the US, citing "inappropriate" security arrangements at the country’s airports.

Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authorities (CAA) said it had reviewed security arrangements in light of the concerns expressed by US authorities and have started direct flights to Canada but US authorities are not allowing them direct flights.

"We have started direct flights to Toronto (Canada), but US authorities are not giving us permission and are saying that we should continue to operate flights via Manchester," the Daily Times quoted a Pakistan International Airlines official as saying.

An official of the US embassy in Islamabad Peter Kowach also confirmed the report.
