HYDERABAD: Forest officials arrested two youth who were involved in killing a two-year-old male spotted deer here on Thursday.The incident allegedly took place on March 18 and it came to light on Thursday.According to forest officials, the two accused are sons of non-teaching staff at university of Hyderabad.Forest range officer of the antipoaching squad, V Tirumala Rao said that S Ashok (26) and K Naresh (20) were involved in killing the deer which was about 30 kg by trapping it and sold the venison outside of UoH.They kept about 10 kg meat in their refrigerator.The forest department got an anonymous tip off on toll free number on Wednesday.The anti-poaching squad team raided their houses here on Thursday and confiscated the deer skin and venison from their refrigerator.As the youth were not at home, instead their parents were arrested and brought to the forest department office, he informed.Later the youth finding their parents in lock up surrendered before the forest officials. Investigation is on.According to the Wildlife Protection Act 1972, the youth may be handed over a fine of Rs 25,000 and be imprisoned upto three years, as it is a non-bailable offense.
