New Delhi: What was your reaction after hearing the name '3G' for the first time? Didn't you think that somebody is making a realistic film on the telecom scam? The promos suggested something else but you wouldn't believe till the film actually turns out to be a horror film. Therefore, IBNLive has compiled a list of ten films that has misleading titles.
Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola: Vishal Bhardwaj is known as someone who has a unique sense of humour. It was evident in his last film 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola' where the three prime characters were connected through a title. The viewers were remained confused about the theme of the story till they got to see it on screen. This way a title made the potential spectators curious about a film.
Shanghai: Dibakar Banerjee's ambitious project was about illogical urbanisation. Though the film cleared the reasons behind naming it as 'Shanghai' but the audience got confused in the beginning about the film's content.
Chaar Din Ki Chandni: The film was a love story with two people trying to impress each other's parents in order to convince them for an otherwise unacceptable marriage. Where does the title 'Chaar Din Ki Chandni' come from then? Well, we don't have any clue, enlighten us if you have any idea.
Dangerous Ishhq: There was nothing dangerous about love in this film because the film was not about love at all. It was about a venomous man who was hell bent on torturing his fellow men. And, even if it was about love then there were at least a dozen jilted lovers. However, the title was apt if it was meant for the viewers.
Department: RGV tried to accumulate two many things in just one film, the underbelly of the Mumbai Police was one of them. The name of the film indicated that it is going to be about the rampant corruption in any department. Later, it turned out to be focussing more on the underworld than the Poliec department.
Maximum: No, it wasn't about the maximum city. Two rival police officers Pratap Pandit and Arun Inaamdar wanted to teach each other the value of patience, experience and revenge in a film set in the backdrop of Mumbai. Why was it named 'Maximum' then?
Cocktail: Veronica was made to sacrifice her love for Gautam because he wanted to marry Meera. Does the name 'Cocktail' fit into this scheme of things? Who cares till the makers are shooting a quarter of the story in bars? By the way people were seen drinking cocktails there.
Kismet Love Paisa Dilli: All the four letters in the name of the film had a special meaning for the spectator. It was your 'kismet' (fate) which has deprived you the 'love' for meaningful films. You are bound to lose 'paisa' (money), especially if you are in 'Dilli' (the film was targeted at youngsters of Delhi). Overall, it did not have anything to do with the actual story of the film.
Rush: Emraan Hashmi was not rushing anywhere, especially during the passionate kisses. In fact, he displayed a very cool, calm and composed persona throughout the film. The name was doing rounds since a long time and it gave a feeling that the film could be about some kind of racing. Who would imagine that 'Rush' is about media rather than thrilling finishes!
Delhi Belly: Only Kunaal Roy Kapur tried to give some meaning to the title, otherwise the audience kept wondering about the name of the film. It was like naming a Yash Chopra film 'Swiss Love Story' because it was shot in Switzerland.
