Dubai: An Indian technician in Sharjah killed himself in a lift he was responsible for maintaining, complaining that the company he worked for, had not paid him wages for over six months.
The badly mutilated body of the 30-year-old was found in the pit of a lift installed to service a 43-storey residential building.
The body was found along with a suicide note in Sharjah's Buhaira Corniche area on June 6. Police did not name the deceased, Gulf News reported.
In the suicide note, the man said his company had not paid him for six months and that his family in India was facing financial hardships, the paper said.
Police said the man tied a rope around his neck before stepping inside the lift pit and tying the other end of the rope to the bottom of the lift, the report said.
He was believed to have died instantly when a tenant took the lift up.
But unknown to building residents his mangled body remained hanging in the shaft for three days and kept on being crushed each time the lift went up and down.
