Alipurduar: An unclaimed bag found lying in the Nonai bridge in Alipurduar in Jalpaiguri district on Saturday, a day after one policeman died and two others were injured while defusing a bomb in Alipurduar led to a bomb scare.
Some people found a bag lying unclaimed on the Nonai bridge and informed the police. A police team immediately rushed to the spot and asked the people to stay away, police sources said. A policemen then searched the bag and found nothing in it, the sources said. One policeman died and two others were injured while defusing a bomb Alipurduar on August 29.
The police has arrested a Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) activist Gouranga Ray from Maynaguri area on Friday in connection with the bomb blast, the sources said. The bomb which the policemen were trying to defused was planted by the KLO, the sources added.
