BANGALORE:  For the smooth flow of sewage water and to avoid blockages, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike takes up de- silting works in all its wards on a regular basis. But the de-silting works have worried the residents of Muneshwara Block 'F' cross, one of the areas falling under the Dattatreya Temple BBMP ward. The residents complained that the silt removed from the drains in the ward is left unattended for many days , causing inconvenience to the residents. "The desilting works were carried out about 10 days ago. But, still the silt has not been removed by the Palike," said Madan Kumar, a resident. Heaps of silt have been left near a public tap where the residents of the ward collect drinking water. "There are higher chances of the water being infected by virus and micro organisms as they multiply in silt. With the onset of summer, epidemic breaks out mostly through water  ," added Madan along with the women who had no other go, but to use the public tap which is surrounded by silt. We also received complaints on the concrete streets at Ganesha Block being damaged when the old sanitary pipes were replaced with new ones. "Concrete roads were damaged for replacement of sanitary pipes. Many months have passed since the work got over but there has been no efforts made to repair the damaged roads," said Raju, a resident.  The residents urged the Palike to take up de-silting works on a regular basis. We found that residents of Muneshwara block 'F' complain about issues relating to the poor drainage system. There are drains only on one side of the street. They further added that the ward does not have a playground or a park either. The area corporator RS Sathyanarayana was not available for comments.
