BELLARY: Thirteen persons were killed in two separate mishaps in the state on Tuesday. In the first incident, eight persons, who were heading to Tinthini Mouneshwar Temple, were killed in a head-on-collision between a bus and a Cruiser Trax van on the Shimoga-Hospet Highway near Ittigi village in Hoovinahadagali taluk in the early hours of Tuesday. While five died on the spot, three others breathed their last a while later. Seven of the injured were admitted to a hospital in Davanagere. In the other accident, five youngsters who were heading towards Mailar, a religious place in the district, drowned when the coracle ferrying them capsized in the Tungabhadra river on Tuesday afternoon, at around 3 pm. In both incidents cases have been registered, police sources said.
