Two youths from Odisha’s Rangeilunda have embarked on a journey to Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya on foot to offer prayers at the Ram Temple, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22.

Kuresh Behera and his friend Sonu Bisoi– residents of Chandapur and Kanishi areas respectively– offered prayers at the Ram temple in Kanishi near Berhampur town.

The duo will cover 35 to 40 kilometres daily to cover a distance of around 1340 to 1400 km. They will stay at the Mutt or temple at night and are likely to reach Ayodhya within 40 days.

With bags on their back and flags in their hands, the duo set out for Ayodhya amid chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ by locals gathered at the temple. Some people also accompanied them for the next 10-15 km.

Behera said,” We aim to cover More than 30 km every day. If we proceed in this way, we hope to reach Ayodhya after about 40 days.”

“People are welcoming us in different places. Food and lodging arrangements are also being made. People are encouraging us. We are very happy. We will reach Ayodhya and pray to Lord Ram for the welfare of Society,” said Bisoi.

“We want to have a glimpse of Ram Lala seated in the temple in Ayodhya. We have sought the blessings of Lord Ram at my village before setting out on our journey,” Bisoi said. Both Behera and Bisoi work in private companies.
