THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A complaint has been submitted to the Indian High Commissioner in Maldives by a youngster from Thiruvananthapuram alleging that he was attacked and robbed of his money by a group of Maldivian citizens. Vaisakh Ramakrishnan Sadanandan, 24, hailing from Karikkakom here, now working as a front office supervisor at a resort in Maldives, is the one who has filed the complaint over the incident, which reportedly occurred on March 31. “The incident happened at the ‘One & All’ hotel in Male on March 31. I was on a personnel trip and had stayed at ‘One & All’ hotel. Around 2.30 pm, one Ali Jinan, holding the Maldivian identity card no: A 283008 and two other people entered my room forcibly and pushed me to the bed and started beating me with a hammer. They took my mobile phone, cash worth USD 200, camera and gold chain and ran away. I informed the hotel authorities about the incident and they called the police. Police registered the crime under Maldives case number LC2012/04690,” the complaint reads. “The police only registered the complaint. Several such incidents are happening against Malayalis in Male, but the authorities there are least bothered,” said Sadanandan, Vaisakh’s father. However, Vaisakh and his family are hoping that the State Government would adopt a favourable stand by urging the Maldivian authorities to take action against the culprits.
