CHENNAI: In an attempt to get rid of inordinate delays plaguing the recruitment process of various government posts, the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC), in a first, has come out with an annual planner aimed at expediting the process of appointments. Addressing a press meet on Tuesday, TNPSC Chairman R Nataraj said that the planner would detail all exam-related events, including notification date and the publication of results. He said that a massive computerisation process had been initiated, including the introduction of Online Application and Registration System (OARS) and Recruitment Process Management System, to enable easy implementation of the planner.  He said about 8,500 vacancies have been notified so far  for which the recruitment would soon begin.  Adding to a backlog of about 7,000 vacancies last year, filling of which was delayed owing to graft charges in the TNPSC, an estimated 15,500 posts will be filled before the end of the coming fiscal. Over the last 45 days alone, appointments have been made to over 1,400 vacancies. Nataraj said the commission is now keen on transparency. Immediately after the exam, the tentative answer keys would be put on the commission’s website. Aspirants would be given seven days time to file claims and objections. When asked if the computerised programmes have been checked for loopholes, given the fact that corruption in the previous regime surfaced following the cracking of a manipulation to the software, he said current systems have been certified as secure by various agencies. Surveillance cameras will be used to monitor the process. The planner could be accessed at  http://www.tnpsc.gov.in. To Move Apex CourtTNPSC chairman R Nataraj said that the State government has decided to appeal to the Supreme Court against an order of the Madras High Court to recruit 185 judges to the subordinate judiciary without the commission’s involvement.
