KOCHI: Chief Sub-Editor of The New Indian Express, MA Thomas, stepped down from service after a 42-year-long association with the newspaper on Saturday. Having joined the paper on January 1, 1970, Thomas worked under RN Goenka during the launch of the Kochi edition of the paper, the first English daily to be published in Kerala.After a long stint as the personal secretary to the Resident Editor, Thomas was brought into mainstream journalism by TJS George, eminent journalist, and MK Das, the then Resident Editor. Later, he went on to play a crucial role in bringing out the business pages of the paper.Thomas is married to Mary Thomas and has four daughters Tintu, Tina, Anu and Minu. Thomas was given a warm send-off by his colleagues at a meeting on Saturday.
