CHENNAI: Food enthusiasts in the city can look forward to a new trend among social circles in the coming months with the launch of the first chapter of the Chennai Supper Club. The event was a joint venture between Ashvita Fine Living and the Kuki Jar and saw a varied crowd of people, settling in for an evening of outdoor gourmet dining, soft lighting and strains of some popular John Mayer covers to add to the mood.Art connoisseur Ashwin Rajagopalan, owner of Ashvita, pointed out that most cosmopolitan cities do have an underground supper club or two, but this is a first for Chennai. He explained, “The idea is to bring together people of like minded interests to enjoy some good food and various arts that we have planned that could include music, stand up comedy or otherwise.” He specifies that this is exclusive to invitation only and would be restricted to a maximum of 30 guests at a time. “This supper club will be a monthly affair, perhaps twice a month at most and each attendant may recommend two friends for the next meet.” Despite a delay in between courses, the several delicatessen courses brought out ranging from a Bacon stuffed Cherry Tomato appetiser to Pork Chops with Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Creamy Pasta with Leek & garlic Pesto and a delicious Blue Cheese and Almond soup plated up by chef Kuki Ravindran, had quite a few people quite literally applaud the meal and no doubt, left with hopes for the dessert after.(The Chennai Supper Club will be themed based on the food and variably priced between `1500 an `2000 per person)
