KOCHI: The documentary, 'The Glorifying Mother, Mathru Devo Bhavah', highlights the miracles performed by Mother Mary, right from the time she emancipated slaves in Spain, Portugal, and other European countries, to saving the lives of a drowning Hindu Nair woman, Meenakshiamma, and her child. It also focuses on a Hindu Paliath Komi Achan's donation of land in the Vallarpadam area to the Christians, after their church was destroyed in the floods of 1676.“The message of the film is communal harmony, because it was a Hindu who helped in the setting up of the church,” says scriptwriter Sanu Sathyan. “We also want to say that those who love Mother, be it in the form of God, nature, parents, they will surely get the blessing in return. The best example is the transformation of Vallarpadam into the Vallarpadam International Container Terminal, a potential global hub of tomorrow.” The documentary also showcases the 800-year-old history and evolution of the national shrine, the Basilica of Our Lady of Vallarpadam (Mother Mary). The switch-on ceremony of the documentary will be held at 11.30 am on Sunday and will be done by Minister for Consumer Affairs K V Thomas at the Basilica. “The film is being released in six languages -- Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, English, Spanish and French,” said Sanu. “It is a lucid insight into the universality of motherhood, compassion and love.”The documentary is directed by Ravi Menon and Sanu Sathyan, and produced by Lekshmi Menon. The unit members include Neil D'Cunha, editor Thanuj NTX, while graphics has been handled by Fies Thoppil, who worked in the award-winning film, 'Adaminte Makan Abu'.
