Telugu actor Subrahmanyam's last rites today
AVS, as he is fondly remembered, died due to acute liver ailment from which he had struggling for a long time.

Hyderabad: The last rites of 56-year old Telugu actor A.V. Subrahmanyam, who died Friday due to liver-related problems, will be performed here Saturday, his family members said.

"His body will be kept in the morning at the South Indian Film Chambers of Commerce (SIFCC) office for public to pay their last respects. Later in the evening, we will take him to the Punjagutta cremation ground where his last rites will be performed," Subrahmanyam's son Pradeep told IANS.

The 56-year old was discharged from Global Hospitals Friday after doctors advised his family to take him home.

"Some of his industry friends visited him after we reached home last evening. The doctors had asked us take him home because he his condition had worsened," Pradeep added.

AVS was first diagnosed with liver-related issues in 2007. A year later, when doctors had lost all hope, he miraculously made a recovery after his daughter donated a part of her liver.

He made his cinematic debut with Telugu family drama 'Mr. Pellam' in 1991. He had starred in several films over the last two decades.

Most remembered for his character and comic villain roles, some of his best films include 'Yamaleela', 'Sisindri', 'Intlo Illalu Vantaintlo Priyuralu' and 'Venky'.

AVS had also directed four films namely 'Super Heroes', 'Ori Ni Prema Bangaaram Kaanu', 'Room Mates' and 'Kothimooka'.

He was also closely associated with Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
