Sivaganga: Tamil Nadu Director of Health Services Kulandaiswamy on Monday visited Kirungakottai village, where suspected dengue fever claimed two lives including that of 15-year old girl and crippled more than 100 persons, official source said.
Those affected persons have been shifted to Madurai Government Hospital and Singampunari Priminary Health Centre for treatment, the sources said. Due to recent rains, there had been stagnation of water in many places leading to laying of eggs by mosquitos.
More than 40 health department workers were engaged in works related to checking of mosquitoes using fogging machines in the village. Officials were also holding mosquito menace awarness campaign.
District Collector Rajaraman was camping in Singampunari to supervise health related programmes.
