KOCHI: The meeting convened by the Assistant Commissioner to solve the ongoing strike of the purse-seine boats in the Cochin Fishing harbour failed in attaining the desired result. However, sources said that the issue would be sorted out on Wednesday as the boat operators have reached a consensus with the CITU. The boat operators were striking for the past 20 days against giving a three percent share of the day’s catch to the trade union. “However, we have learnt that the boat operators have agreed to give a two percent share to the trade union”, said the sources with the Kerala Purse-seine Matsya Thozhilali Union. They added that if the CITU agrees with that the strike will be called off. There are over 50 purse-seine boats at the Cochin Fishing Harbour.
