The supporters of Baba Ramdev in the city will join yoga guru Baba Ramdev in his fight against corruption, ‘August Kranthi,’ to be held in New Delhi on Thursday.
Also, the supporters aim to gather about 26,000 from Bangalore and surrounding areas. The movement ‘August Kranthi’ was coined by Ramdev Baba when he was in the city to announce his fight against Lokpal Movement.
Ramdev Baba had slammed at the government for hike in prices of commodities in the state.
“Our priority is the implementation of Jan Lokpal Bill and bringing back the black money stashed at foreign banks. We will stand united to see our demands are fulfilled. All the supporters will pack food grains in small packets and protest against the price rise,” said Shanti Lal, zonal-incharge of Patanjali Yog Peeth, Bangalore.
He added, “We have sent 15 batches each comprising 800 supporters to New Delhi. As many as 26,000 supporters from Bangalore and surrounding areas will gather for ‘August Kranthi’ on Thursday.” Speaking about the movement, he said, “We will fight till our demands are met and will not disband like Team Anna. Along with Baba, 11,000 supporters will fast,” Lal added.
Jan Jagrithi Andolan, which participated in Team Anna’s anti-graft movement last year differs.
“Baba Ramdev has ‘ready-made’ followers. Eventually his protest’s momentum will fade as he is not genuine. He should first explain how the ‘Mutt’ and ‘Saffron’ leaders get their income,” said A K Subbaiah, c0-founder of Jana Jagrithi Andolan.
Alleging that Arvind Kejriwal was running an high profile NGO and he ‘remote-controlled’ Anna, he said, “I had gone to Freedom Park last year. Anna is just a social worker, not a reformer. That’s why this movement failed.”
