Bangalore: As part of its education grants and donations programme, Sun Microsystems India on Thursday rolled out the second edition of its Sun Matching Grant Programme.
Through this initiative, Sun will provide a series of hardware, software and web-based training material, which will allow an unlimited number of Indian educational institutions and students to benefit from its technology.
Last year, 45 educational institutions signed up for the co-investment programme under which Sun donates equipment, whose value has to be matched by a similar investment from the educational institution or partnering aid organisation, company executives said.
"The roll out of this programme is a significant undertaking that will benefit the Indian student community by creating skilled technical professionals who contribute to the economy of our country," Sun Microsystems senior officials Mohan Doss and K P Unnikrishnan said.
