A third year BE student allegedly committed suicide on campus here on Monday.
Police suspect that he took the extreme step owing to a failed love affair, making it the third such incident reported here in the past one week. C Kapildev was a student of the Aeronautical Engineering in Nehru College of Aeronautics and Applied Science near Kuniamuthur. “From his mobile call records and SMSes, it appears that his failed love could have led to the suicide. We are yet to get the girl’s statement,” said Madukkarai inspector Murali, the investigating officer od the case.
The girl hailed from the same village as Kapildev. On Monday morning, some labourers noticed his body hanging in an under-construction building on campus.
“We are awaiting the post-mortem report to ascertain the exact time of the suicide. On the same night, he had made calls and sent SMSes to the same girl. He has not left behind any suicide note,” a police officer said.
