THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Syro-Malabar Laity Commission chairman Mar Mathew Arackal on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of the International Chavara Cancer Research Institute (ICCRI), a hospital and palliative care centre, to be set up by the Kuriakose Elias Trust at Moozhi, Nedumangad.A Community Living Project will also come up at Pappanamcode. The inauguration of the various initiatives of the trust including the formal announcement of ‘Oncology-2012’, a conference to be held in the city in May 2012 and the ‘Healthy Child, Wealthy Nation’, a project of the Trust for the benefit of cancer-affected children of poor parents, was done by Major Archbishop Moran Mor Baselios Mar Cleemis. The project will be implemented within two years. Soosa Pakiam, Archbishop, Thiruvananthapuram Latin Archdiocese, John V. Thadathil, the Vicar-General of Changanacherry Archdiocese, Syro-Malabar Sabha Laity Commission secretary V C Sebastian, Institute Medical Board director C S Madhu, Trust executive secretary K A Abraham and Lourdes Matha Care director Fr Sony Mundunadakkal were among others who attended the function.
