New Delhi: According to polls, the latest in the race for the White House is that John McCain, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are in a statistical dead heat.
Given these statistics, the Florida Democratic Party's decision not to hold a second primary is significant.
Florida officials were considering one after being stripped of delegates to the Democratic National Convention, for holding the state's primary on January 29, earlier than party rules allowed.
Though Democratic candidates pledged not to campaign in Florida, Hillary Clinton has pushed for the state's delegates to be counted or another vote held.
Barack Obama though opposes counting the January 29 results.
Hillary Clinton had got 55 per cent of the vote to Barack Obama's 33 per cent in the primary.
