Star-studded World Kannada Conference in London
Actors Ambarish, Pranay Raj Srinath and three others were honoured at the award function.

London: Veteran Kannada film actors Ambarish, Pranay Raj Srinath and three others were honoured for their outstanding contribution to Kannada cinema at the Vishwa Kannada Sammelan (Europe) 2011 (World Kannada Conference, Europe) here last night.

Others honoured with a shawl and certificate were Kannada actress Ramya, actor Hamsa Lekha and veteran actress Sumalata Ambarish.

Speaking on behalf of those honoured, Ambarishi described the it as 'memorable'. He recalled the contributions of Rajkumar, Puttanna and Vishnuvardhana to the growth of the Kannada cinema. He said that India, alongwith Indian cinema, has carved out a niche in the world today. He also

complimented the youth in organising the Sammelan (conference)

successfully.

More than 600 delegates from USA, Ireland and Europe attended the conference on the first day at the Mermaid Conference and Events Centre at Blackfriars in London. The conference concludes today.

The day-long programme included a dance ballet on Vedas - the Universal Truth, by Kannada TV and film actresses Swetha, Sindhu, Dhanya and Manasa followed by fusion dreams - instrumental music and songs by Kannada playback singers BR

Chaya and Badri Prasad.

Jyotsna Srikanth, a British-Indian violinist received standing ovation for her performance on the violin. Having played violin for nearly 200 Indian films, she is currently working on numerous large-scale music experiments -in a way bringing communities together. She was conferred the Fellowship from the Trinity College of Music, London.
