City Express had published a report titled, ‘Losing faith in the Palike’s ability’ on September 29 siting the woes of the local in the area. The report emphasised the problems faced by the residents due to shortage and erratic water supply. The borewells that were dug in the locality of Kadhirappa spat muddy and dirty water when the residents tried using it. An elderly lady in the locality had said that the water from the borewell was unfit for consumption. Adding to that the water tank that comes in the locality stops in only place. This causes a problem for the elderly in the locality.Five hundred people had gather at the Cox Town Circle protesting and demanding that the civic agencies get their act together. Traffic had come to a stand still as 500 angry residents stood on the road with their multi coloured empty buckets of water demanding for a regular supply of drinking water. Executive engineer Srinivas Reddy and assistant executive engineer Gopalan Gowda came to the spot and tried to pacify the angry mob. The locals demanded that they be supplied water daily for two hours a day without fail and the officials had no other choice but to succumb to their demands. They have promised and assured the residents of regular water supply. The officials said that they will provide water in areas of Cox Town, Doddigunta, PSK Naidu Road, Thimmaih Garden, Rayappa Garden, Sundarmurthi Road and all the cross roads of Kadhirappa among other areas.Ravi also said that they will wait and see if the authorities keep their word, failing which they will not shy away from staging their protest in front of BWSSB’s minister S Suresh Kumar’s residence.
