BANGALORE: The 8th Annual Theatre Festival at Rangashankara will take place between October 15 and 23.Six plays including three new productions, specially curated by Prakash Belawadi, Journalist and Theatre person, comprise this year’s Rangashankara Theatre Fest 2011.The event will also host a seminar, a Theatre and Arts Appreciation course, a cartoon exhibition, street plays and film screenings. “Each year we organise the festival around a theme. This year’s theme is Politics in Play,” said Arundhati Nag, Creative Director, Rangashankara while unveiling the festival.The three new productions include Ninasam’s Kantu, Sanket’s Nammoora Benkibaakaru and CFD’s Tango.Anchored by Sadanand Menon, Art Critic and Journalist, the Theatre and Art Appreciation Course aims to dissect the plays staged during the festival.“The idea is to make the students of the course understand theatre from a different perspective,” said Arundhati Nag. “We have invited speakers like Dr Chandan Gowda, Columnist Aakar Patel and Dr Arshia Sattar to speak at the seminar and later the discussion will be open for the public as well,” said Prakash Belawadi.
