Bengaluru: A Bengaluru-Hubballi SpiceJet flight with 77 people on board had skidded off while landing at Hubli Airport in Karnataka on Sunday.
According to sources, the incident took place around 7.15 PM when the aircraft's wheel got deflated and it veered off the runway. All 77 passengers were onboard escaped unhurt.
Karnataka Information Minister Roshan Baig was also on board and escaped unhurt. Speaking to CNN-IBN, the Minister said, "It was a miraculous escape. There was a loud noise, and we had to escape through the emergency exit. It was raining and the flight skidded off while landing."
"SpiceJet flight SG 1085 (Bangalore to Hubli) skidded off the runway in heavy rain at Hubli Airport," SpiceJet said in the statement.
"No injuries have been reported. The incident has been reported to the DGCA," the airline said, adding that SpiceJet was conducting a full enquiry into the incident.
The airline was operating the flight with Bombardier Q-400 plane.
