Space exhibition at Russian Centre

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An exhibition of photographs began at the Russian Cultural Centre in the city commemorating Yuri Gagarin’s trip to space. ‘First in Space,’ as the exhibition is titled, features photographs on the erstwhile Soviet Union’s achievements in space, Gagarin’s preparations for his historic flight, his childhood and the reception given to the cosmonaut on his safe return to earth. The Russian Cultural Centre has associated with the Russkiy Mir Foundation, Moscow, for the exhibition, which marks the 50th anniversary of the historic space flight, which, for the USSR, was also a major victory against America in the Cold War era.  The exhibition will be on from 10 am to 5 pm till Saturday, Russian Cultural Centre administrator-in-charge Dr S Anil Kumar said.
