Gali Somasekhar Reddy, Karnataka MLA and brother of mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy, appeared before ACB officials here on Friday following summons and was questioned over his alleged role in the cash-for-bail scam.
He is accused number two in the Gali Janardhan Reddy bail scam case.
After sending feelers in the last few days that he would surrender, the Bellary Urban MLA walked into the Anti- Corruption Bureau's headquarters here on Friday evening.
ACB officials said Reddy would be summoned again on Saturday for further questioning. There is no definite information whether he will be arrested after quizzing or not.
The ACB had registered a case against Somasekhar Reddy for hatching a conspiracy to bribe judges and secure bail for his brother and mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy.
Somasekhar Reddy allegedly offered Rs 100 crore to CBI court judeges for granting bail to his brother. It summoned Somasekhar Reedy in the third week of July for questioning but he and fellow Karnataka MLA TH Suresh Babu approached the ACB court on July 26 seeking anticipatory bail.
The court posted to August 9 its orders on the bail petitions. Earlier, in its complaint to the ACB, the CBI had said that Somasekhar Reddy, Dasaratharam Reddy, Suresh Babu, advocate T Aditya, retired judge TV Chalapathi Rao, the then CBI court judge Pattabhirama Rao and others had entered into a conspiracy for facilitating bail for Janardhan Reddy.
The case was first cracked by the CBI after Pattabhirama Rao, who was additional special judge for CBI court, granted bail to Janardhan Reddy.
Suresh Babu was arrested recently when he landed in the city to meet an advocate at Ashok Nagar here and remanded in judicial custody till August 14.
After Suresh Babu's arrest, Somasekhar Reddy's arrest became imminent with the ACB issuing a lookout notice for him.
