A day after the protests by the family members of the AP Special Police (APSP) personnel, the police top brass has come out with a slew of measures for the personnel, including recruiting 4,000 personnel, granting three-day leave in a month and posting them within 200 km from the headquarters.
“We are looking into various aspects, including corruption at the reserve inspector level in all the battalions. We will also provide counselling for the staff,” DG, APSP Battalions, Damodar Goutam Sawang told reporters.
Earlier in the day, kin of about 10 APSP personnel had discussions with DGP V Dinesh Reddy during which the state police chief agreed to all their demands. “We are taking all the measures to bring in new policies for the benefit of the APSP constables. The existing staff crunch is leading to pressure on the personnel and we will recruit 4,000 staff, the notification for which will be released shortly and the recruitment will be complete within a year,” said Sawang.
