Shoot-at-sight orders for man eater leopard
The Himalayan leopard was declared a man eater after it killed eight people.

New Delhi: Wild life authorities have issued shoot-at-sight orders to eliminate a man eater leopard, which had escaped from Dachigam National Park on Sunday.

"We have issued shoot-at-sight order for the leopard which had terrorised humans in Kashmir after escaping from Dachigam National Park on the intervening night of January 23-24, wild life warden M Y Naqash.

The 12 feet long Himalayan leopard weighing 75 kg, was declared a man eater on July 14 last year after it killed eight people.

However, it was captured on December 12 last year at Mawar in Kupwara district of North Kashmir and shifted to the rescue and rehabilitation centre at Dachigram National Park from where it fled on January 23-24 night.

Search is on by the state wild life department and the police to trace the leopard that has escaped into the wild.
