Mumbai: In a major development in the Sheena Bora murder case, the then Investigating Officer of Pen tehsil in Raigad has reportedly told the team probing the alleged lapses in the case that he was asked not to file an FIR. The order was given by then Superintendent of Police RD Shinde, he claims.

Sheena's body remains were reportedly recovered from Pen forest in Raigad.

On September 7, DNA report of the body parts found in Raigad matched with that of Indrani Mukherjea. Former Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria had said that the DNA report "conclusively proves" that Indrani was the mother of the "deceased Sheena Bora".

Police had also recovered shoes belonging to the accused and jewellery belonging to Sheena as possible evidence, and sent body remains purportedly of Sheena - found in a forest in Pen tehsil of neighbouring Raigad district for DNA testing.

The murder case has hit the headlines and Sheena's mother Indrani, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyam Rai have been arrested on the charges of murdering Sheena and disposing of the body at Pen forest in Maharashtra's Raigad district in April 2012. According to police, Sheena was murdered on April 24, 2012.
