Seminar on medical ethics

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Adoor Prakash will inaugurate a two-day seminar on medical ethics on July 30 at the IMA Hall in Kochi.The seminar is being organised by the Kerala State branch of the  Indian Medical Association in the background of  the realisation that there has to be changes in medical ethics with the fast progress of medical science as well as drastic changes in society. The topics of discussion will cover various aspects of medical ethics - whether it is right for doctors organisations to accept money from associated organisations  for continuing medical education especially when the government and Medical Council are totally indifferent to such programmes; ethics of finding donors for organ transplantation; complexities involved in  infertility treatment; wombs on rent; legal protection for doctors and patients and so on.
