New Delhi: Ministry of Home Affairs has advised all states to be on high alert after the Supreme Court on Tuesday lifted its interim stay order on the contentious Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit case verdict, which is to be delivered by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court. The High Court will deliver the verdict on September 30 at 3:30 PM.
Security would be tightened everywhere as apprehensions of communal tension are surfacing the minds of the authorities. Caution will be exercised and reserve forces are being kept ready to be moved in case of any trouble at a minimum notice period of ten minutes.
IAF planes will be kept ready at eight places. Locations like Ahmadabad, Coimbatore and parts of Maharashtra are sensitive so extra caution would be exercised in these places. There would be a ban on text messages that are sent in bulk till September 30 and this could be extended even further if need arises.
A three-judge special bench comprising of Chief Justice of India SH Kapadia, Justice Aftab Alam and Justice KS Radhakrishnan announced that the three-judge High Court bench could go ahead with the pronouncement of judgment while dismissing the special leave petition of Ramesh Chandra Tripathi that had appealed for deferment of the verdict so that an out-of-court settlement could be tried.
In its pre-lunch sitting, the apex court heard the arguments from both the sides, after which Attorney General G Vahanvati told the court, "If there is any possibility of the settlement (out of court), we will welcome it but at the same time we don't want any uncertainty to continue."
"For the sake of maintaining law and order, we cannot keep security forces in sustained animation," he added.
