SC team faults district administration

DEOGARH: A three-member team of State Advisor to the Commissioners of the Supreme Court visited San Dangaghat village under Tabda gram panchayat besides Pendrakhol village under the same panchayat in Reamal block on Monday to probe the alleged starvation death of Jatra Khilar (60) on December 4.The team interacted with Chandri Khilar, Jatra’s widow and son Prasanna besides sarpanch and ward members.  They held discussions with Collector Julius Lakra and cross-checked facts to ascertain the cause of death.The team said the district administration had failed to ensure that welfare schemes and benefits reached people like Jatra who did not even avail of old age pension.The district administration had claimed that Jatra had died of asthma.
