KOCHI: The three-day-long Samskritam Exhibition organised by the Amrita School of Arts and Sciences began here on Wednesday. The exhibition depicts modern science and inventions in ancient India. More than 300 items used in day-to-day life are also displayed with Sanskrit names. The student volunteer service group of Amrita, Samskriti, and Vishwa Samskrita Prathishtan is organising the exhibition. The exhibition was inaugurated on Wednesday by Laskhmi Sankar, Assistant Professor, Department of Sanskrit, Sreekrishna College, Guruvayur. The exhibition is part of ‘Kalamritam-2011,’ the three-day cultural festival of Amrita School of Arts and Sciences, Kochi.‘Kalamritam-2011,’ inaugurated by Surya Krishnamurthy, founder-director of Surya Stage and Film Society and chairman, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi, will showcase a wide range of cultural programmes, including classical dances, martial arts, skits, presentations, quiz, folk music and other musical performances. The cultural and art forum of Amrita School, ‘Amrita Kala Ranjanam’ was also inaugurated by Soorya Krishnamurthy. Samskriti has also set up a food court with Kerala, North Indian and Gujarati dishes.
