Salman Khan Firing Case: Plan Hatched in US; Security Beefed Up Outside Galaxy Apartments
The Mumbai Police are currently questioning two people --- the owner of the motorbike used in the crime and the middleman who helped the accused purchase it. They are also trying to analyse why the accused would go to Panvel to purchase a bike when the target was Bandra

The deployment of cops has been increased outside the residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan, a day after two men — allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang — fired outside Galaxy Apartments early on Sunday morning.

Earlier, Khan had two PSOs, two commandos, two escort vehicles and 11 cops under the Y+ category security accorded to him. Now, three cops and one PSO have been added to beef up security.

The actor has also been asked to inform Mumbai Police before moving out of his house and be vigilant of movement around him.

The Crime Branch suspects that both the shooters were in Mumbai a few days before the firing incident.

THE US LINK

Several reports indicated that the plot was hatched in the United States where Anmol Bishnoi, Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, gave the task of selecting shooters to US-based gangster Rohit Godara. Police said Godara had a wide network of professional shooters across states in India.

Police said the Bishnoi gang maintains a ready supply of weapons strategically stored in various locations across India and it is possible that Godara’s associated helped move the weapons to shooters in India.

WHAT’S THE LATEST?

The Mumbai Police are currently questioning two people — the owner of the motorbike used in the crime and the middleman who helped the accused purchase it. They are also trying to analyse why the accused would go to Panvel to purchase a bike when the target was Bandra. Some time ago, two people had tried to trespass at Salman Khan’s Panvel farmhouse, which is also in Raigad.

The Crime Branch has dispatched its team to Delhi, Bihar and Jaipur. Earlier, Mumbai Police had reached out to police at Gurugram and Haryana after an official source in the Delhi Police said one of the two accused is suspected to be a criminal from Gurugram who was involved in multiple killings and robberies in Haryana and is wanted in the murder of Gurugram-based businessman Sachin Munjal in March.

Top Mumbai Police sources have told News18 that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang is behind the firing and the attack was carried out by Rohit Godara, who operates Bishnoi’s gang in Rajasthan. One of the accused has been identified as Vishal aka Kalu, who works for Godara.

The probe so far has revealed that the IP address of the profile named Anmol Bishnoi that took responsibility for Sunday’s firing had been traced to Canada.

Hours after the firing, Anmol Bishnoi, in a purported online post, took responsibility for the incident and issued a warning to the Bollywood actor, saying it was a “trailer”, police sources said. In March last year, an e-mail threatening Khan was received at his office following which the Mumbai Police registered an FIR against Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar and another person under IPC sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 506-II (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention).
