Ryan Reynolds to Bring 'Clue' Board Game To the Big Screen
Even though the 1985 attempt was a box office flop, it's now become a cult movie Fox will be hoping that their Ryan Reynolds project will do better from the start.

The Canadian actor will be one of the star names involved with the next adaptation of the classic murder mystery board game. Ryan Reynolds will be one of the producers making sure 20th Century Fox's Clue makes it from concept to cinema screens. Currently manufactured by Hasbro, and known as "Clue" or "Cluedo" depending on the territory, the board game tasks players with sniffing out the real murderer from a group of six well-to-do suspects.

It's already been adapted as the 1985 film Clue, which was written by John Landis of The Blues Brothers and American Werewolf in London, directed by John Lynn of hot British political comedy Yes, Minister, and boasted Tim Curry (The Rocky Horror Picture Show), Madeline Kahn (Blazing Saddles), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future) and Michael McKean (This Is Spinal Tap) among its cast members.

Even though that 1985 attempt was a box office flop, it's now become a cult movie -- oddball characters, a goofy script, and three different possible endings helped see to that -- Fox will be hoping that their Ryan Reynolds project will do better from the start and to that effect has brought in Deadpool writing pair Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Reese and Wernick had previously found script-writing success with post-apocalyptic horror comedy Zombieland and showed Hasbro they knew how to make a blockbuster out of children's action figures with the critically slammed but financially successful G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

They also reunited with Reynolds for space station thriller Life and with both Reynolds and Fox for May 2018's Deadpool 2. And while Reynolds could play investigator or suspect in Clue, he has already booked himself in to voice an electrically charged, gerbil-like sleuth in May 2019's video game adaptation Detective Pikachu.
