Rs 22.97 lakh stolen from two-wheeler

TIRUPUR: In what appears to be a well-planned and rapid operation, `22 lakh was stolen from motorbike here on Saturday.Police sources said that 30-year-old Kannan, a resident of Anna Nagar in Perundurai, Erode district, withdrew `22,97,000 from a bank in Uttukuli and kept the bag of money in the side box of his motorbike. He had stopped at a tea shop and parked the bike nearby. While he was having tea, somebody broke open the box and stolen the money. Based on a complaint filed by Kannan with the Uttukuli police, the officials have started investigations.
