CUTTACK: Two daylight snatching incidents to the tune of Rs 5 lakh rocked the City on Tuesday. About Rs 2 lakh was looted from an employee of a Chartered Accountant (CA) firm from the vicinity of the Axis Bank at Badambadi, while another ` 3 lakh was snatched from the staffers of a Bhubaneswar-based agency from NH 5 near Pratap Nagari under Sadar police limits.According to reports, one Ranjit Sen, an employee of a Bengali Sahi-based CA firm had come to the Axis Bank to withdraw the money. After doing it, he got his bicycle and was moving out when he was apprehended by two motorcycle-borne miscreants. They snatched the money bag from him and made away with ease.Badambadi police have registered a case and investigation is on.In another incident, two staffers of a Bhubaneswar-based business firm were allegedly attacked by miscreants near Pratap Nagari and were robbed of ` 3 lakh. The two, identified as Akhay Kumar Ray and Bijay Kumar, were reported to be on their way to Cuttack on a motorcycle when the incident occurred.All along the way, they were reportedly followed by two persons on motorcycle. The miscreants allegedly closed in and struck the pillion rider Bijay with an iron rod. Hit on the head, he fell down. Akhay too lost control and tumbled. The miscreants then picked up the money bag and fled.The injured employees have been admitted to the hospital.A complaint has been lodged with Sadar police.
