KOCHI: The uncertainty over the Kochi Metro Rail Project will not affect the   re-construction of North Railway Overbridge with the Kerala Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) authorities stating that the work would proceed in full swing despite the recent developments. The issues began after differences crept up between the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the KMRC after the latter decided to go in for international tender. KMRL managing director Tom Jose and DMRC project director P Sriram have said that the reconstruction work of North ROB, one of the major components of  Metro Rail project, will be pursued as per the schedule.“There is no room for such worries. The work has been going on in full swing  and it is being monitored on a weekly basis. The reconstruction of the North Rail Over-bridge will not be affected at any point,” Tom Jose said. He added that though the piling works had got delayed a bit, it would not throttle  the reconstruction work. The DMRC has already made it clear that it would end its activities in Kochi if the KMRL goes ahead with its decision to float a global tender. P Sriram has assured that the DMRC would complete the metro-related  projects. He has assured that the work of the reconstruction of North ROB will  progress without any hurdle if the state government give them the promised  amount. “For the time being, there are no such explicit hurdles. But, the  state government has to grant us the required fund. The project would come around `210 crore. Only `23 crore has been received so far. We have requested the government to give us an amount of `30 crore soon,” he said.
