New Delhi: Jharkhand celebrated the success of the son of the soil, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who led India to title win at the first-ever T20 World Cup in Johannesburg on Monday.
Loud cheers for Dhoni rent the air of capital Ranchi as Team India defeated Pakistan in the final match by five runs in a nail-biting finish. Thousands of people in different localities braved the heavy downpour to celebrate local hero M S Dhoni's success by bursting crackers and dancing on the streets.
Dhoni fans were performing pujas at temples and mosques throughout the day for the success Team India under his captainship.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda congratulated the Indian captain on his success, saying he not only brought laurels to the country but also to his home state Jharkhand. Mr Koda had last month announced that he will give Dhoni a 'surprise gift' if his team won theT20 World Cup.
In Patna also, the people joined millions of others all over the country and abroad in celebrating the historic win of the Twenty 20 Cricket World Cup by the young Indian team in style.
After several tense moments, when Sreeshanth took the catch to get rid of Misbahul Haque to get Pakistan all out for 152 runs in the last over, thousands of Patnaites burst into joy and huge celebrations which started across the capital immediately after the match was over.
A large number of people, including women and children, came out on the streets and started dancing, singing, bursting crackers and beating drums to celebrate the occasion in their own ways.
People were also seen hugging each other in uncontrolled joy, while many others lost no time to distribute sweets among all to celebrate the tremendous win to bring India yet another World Cup after Kapil Dev whose team brought the first one way back in 1983.
