Ranbir's 'Barfi!' is in legal trouble over song
It seems that the film is going to face a legal battle against the Mumbai based company, Murphy Enterprises.

New Delhi: If media reports are to be believed then director Anurag Basu’s soon to be released film ‘Barfi!’ has landed in a legal trouble. It seems that the film is going to face a legal battle against the Mumbai based company, Murphy Enterprises.

Apparently, Murphy Enterprises has sent a notice to the makers of ‘Barfi!’ about the use of the word Murphy in the trailers and songs.

The film’s story is based in Darjeeling and Kolkata, and is centred on a boy called Barfi. As per the information gathered from the interviews of the cast and crew members of the film, the protagonist of the film was originally called Murphy.

The characterisation of Ranbir Kapoor in the film has been done with proper care. He is deaf-mute boy who can charm anyone with his innocence and wit. In the film, her mother, who is very fond of Murphy radios, dies the moment Ranbir comes on the earth.

There is a song in the film which describes the name ‘Barfi!’ and uses references such as ‘Murphy’, ‘Murphy Munna’ and ‘Murphy Radio’. The natives of the place can’t pronounce Murphy so they call it Barfi.

The company has expressed its objection over the funny portrayal of its brand. 'Barfi!' is scheduled to be released on September 11.
