Initially, Rajinikanth joined hands with KS Ravikumar for magnum opus 'Rana' and fell terribly sick after the launch puja of the film following which he took ailment in foreign countries. The ace actor recovered from some serious illnesses to the relief of millions. Following this he joined hands with his daughter, Soundarya Ashwin, for 'Kochadaiyaan' that is written by KS Ravikumar again.
Several rumors cropped up that 'Kochadaiyaan' is a part of 'Rana' but the director rubbished them all as baseless talk.
'Kochadaiyaan' is a period entertainer that features Deepika Padukone, Sarathkumar, Aadhi, Shobanam, Rukmini, Jackie Shroff and Nassar. Music is by AR Rahman. The film is shot using performance capture technology in 3D.
Rajinikanth will be seen in dual avatars in this film, as father and son. He plays a King who is an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. It's further said that the film will be a revenge drama between three kings and the bloody battle passed on to their sons.
Shooting has been wrapped and post production works are on at various studios. The film will release in Telugu as 'Vikrama Simha', in Hindi, Japanese and English.
It is said that this might be Rajinikanth's last full length feature film but the Superstar has given a deaf ear to such talk. Whatever it may be, with top class technicians working on the film to present Rajini in a different avatar, we can be assured of quite a visual treat through 'Kochadaiyaan' this year.
